It was quiet here this morning so I got a little extra Bible reading in and came across some points to ponder.
While reading from Galatians 3 about faith vs the law, I came upon these thoughts that every Christian should adhere to. And they are:
1. To put on Christ means to be clothed with Him; to assume His person and character; and to ACT the part and sustain the character of Christ in DAILY LIFE.
We can't just get saved and say 'that's it - when I die I get to go to heaven'. It doesn't work that way. We can't claim Jesus as our Lord and continue in worldy and sinful pleasures. If we are taking on Christs' character we can't keep sinning - CHRIST WAS SINLESS!! Again, we are to ACT THE PART OF CHRIST. We can't act the part if we continue in our sinful, selfish pleasures. Sometimes giving up self hurts, but think of all that our Jesus went through to get us to this point.
2. To profess Christianity is to take on the life and works of Christ, follow in His steps, and do His works.
Again, how can we take on the life and works of Christ if the world can't tell us apart from them. We have to give up 'wanting to be like the world' in our conversation, in how we dress, in how we treat others, in what we listen to (just because it says Christian doesn't always mean it is - if the bands claim kinship with Christ, why do they insist on looking and acting like the world?)etc... Claiming that we have to look, speak, and dress like the world in order to win the world is INSANE!!!! Jesus DID NOT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, FORM, or FASHION stoop to worldliness to win the world. The Holy Spirit within Him was that strong! The Holy Spirit should be that strong in us as well. No need for all this wordly rubbish.
3. All races, classes, and sexes are one in Christ and in equal rights and privileges regarding gospel benefits. They make up one body with Christ as the head.
I think that one is pretty much SELF-EXPLANATORY!!!!
4. All Christians are one in unity, in rights, and in privileges as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one in unity and NOT in one person.
Oops!! I think I just saw the 'oneness theory' fly out the window.
