Teach Us to Pray - Part 5

Created by my dad, Mike Marbut.

TEACH US TO PRAY 5

SOME AREAS OF PRAYER

3. PRAYER OF CONFESSION

WE MUST CONFESS CHRIST. “And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. To the glory of God the Father.”

PHILIPPIANS 2:11

Confess Christ as your Savior. Confess Christ as Lord of your life. Just confess Christ.

WE MUST CONFESS OUR SINS. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” PSALMS 66:18

A lot of people are praying wrong. You should first pray “GOD BE MERCIFUL TO ME A SINNER”, and then pray “THY KINGDOM COME”.

SAYING A PRAYER IS ONE THING, DOING GOD’S WILL IS ANOTHER.

ANGELS ARE ANGELS BECAUSE THEY DO GOD’S WILL. WHEN THEY REFUSE TO DO GOD’S WILL THEY BECOME DEVILS.

4. PRAYER OF INTERCESSION.

WE HAVE NOT LEARNED TO PRAY UNTIL WE HAVE LEARNED TO PRAY FOR OTHERS.

As Christ is making intercession for us, even this very moment, so should we make intercession for others. “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.” EPHESIANS 1: 15-16

CLASS V - PAGE 1

INTERCESSION - is my response to the love of God for others. HUSBAND, WIFE, CHILDREN, FRIENDS, CHURCH, PASTOR, SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER, YOUR NATION, YOUR NATIONAL LEADERS, THE NEEDS OF OTHERS, THE SICK, THE POOR, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE SOULS OF ALL MAN KIND, WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.

“WHO WILL STAND IN THE GAP FOR THE LAND”?

LETS BE THE MEN AND WOMEN OF INTERCESSARY PRAYER.

WHEN JONATHAN EDWARDS WAS ABOUT TO PREACH HIS GREATEST SERMON ON SINNERS IN THE HAND OF AN ANGRY GOD , HE PRAYED FOR DAYS: AND WHEN HE STOOD BEFORE THE CONGREGATION AND PREACHED IT, MEN CAUGHT AT THE SEATS IN TERROR, AND SOME FELL TO THE FLOOR; AND THE PEOPLE CRIED OUT IN THEIR FEAR, “MR. EDWARDS, TELL US HOW WE CAN BE SAVED?”

5. PRAYER OF PETITION

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father give good things to them that ask Him. MATTHEW 7:11

Now let us not forget about our needs and desires. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

CLASS V - PAGE 2

PETITIONS ARE MY RESPONSE TO THE POWER AND WISDOM OF GOD.

After we have submitted to the will of God in prayer, and have praised and thanked Him for all that He has done, and is going to do, and have confessed our sins, and Him Lord, and have spent much time in prayer for others, then tell God what you want for yourself according to His will. Ask Him specifically, and He will answer specifically.

“NOW UNTO HIM THAT IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK, ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US.” EPHESIANS 3:20

I SAY, “LET’S PRAY.”
