Weekend Notes

Weekend notes from sermons I've heard, thinks in my head, and discussions I've been in.

Ever read 1 Thessalonians 5:22? Abstain from all APPEARANCE of evil. Ever wonder just what that means? Notice it does NOT say "Abstain from all evil". It says "Abstain from APPEARANCE of evil".What is evil? What appears as evil? Well, this is the way I see it - Ever had those candy cigarettes (?spelling) or that cigar gum as a kid? That's an appearance of evil. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,....., and ye are not your own?" Smoking is doing harm to your temple. So candy cigarettes is an appearance of evil. Ever drank one of those bottled cream sodas? You know the ones. It looks like your drinking a beer. That's an appearance of evil. There are numerous scriptures in the Bible against drinking, but to save time I'll list one. 1 Corinthians 6. Drinking will send you to hell (evil). Drinking those cream sodas like that is an appearance of evil. Ooohhh. I got another one. I have already been a round or two with this one. Musicians!! Some of those 'so-called' christian bands look and act like the world. Greasy hair, tats, t-shirts with skulls & crosses, etc... You get the drift. Why a skull and cross. They think that if they tuck a cross in there it makes it ok. They dress up to appear like worldy (evil) bands. Appearance of evil!!! Can you picture Jesus with a tat, or wearing a skull on His garment? I cedrtainly can't. Disfiguring the body is an outrage to GOD and an insult to Him who designed the body originally. (Lev. 19:28) There's many more 'appearances', but you get the point. If we really want to be like Jesus, we MUST consider these things. Moving on....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We need to stop letting denominations teach us and let God teach us.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everything we do as Christians should be geared toward reaching the lost. We can't reach the lost if our actions are no better than theirs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The key to salvation is found in 1 Thess. 4:14 - We have to believe Jesus died and rose again. That's the key that opens the door, BUT we can't disgard the rest of the Bible and it's teachings of right living.

Christians have something GREAT to look forward to. Thank God for Christian HOPE!!!

The ultimate victory is a Christian's death.

If Jesus came and told you that He would be back in 10 minutes to rapture the church, what would you do?

Daniel 3 Idols

Tattoos - graven images and idols
Body Piercings
T-shirt Ads - idols (what are you advertising?)

The world (government) is trying to get God's people to give in and bow down - examples of this: paying taxes for abortions. Govt is forcing us to pay for something that we believe is morally wrong. But we need to purpose in our hearts that we are going to STAND FOR JESUS! It's WRONG to pass laws to make you do stuff against your moral convictions. There's always something you can do. Things are not hopeless - yet. If we know a company supports things that goes against our morals - BOYCOTT their little butts. You'll be surprised at what you can live without and make-do with.

God hasn't changed. The faith of mankind has just diminished.

Stand for God - NO MATTER WHAT!!

Become opinionated. I like that one.

And one more note. There are dress codes in the Bible that people need to adhere to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of notes, but Dad threw alot at us. And some stuff I just sit and think about.
